Hadhrat Zubair bin Al-Awwam bin Khuwailid (594-656 CE) (الزبير بن العوام بن خويلد) was from the Asad clan of Makka. He was one of the close companions of Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and a military commander of Muslim Army during Prophet’s (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) time. He was one of the ten Sahabah who were promised Paradise. He remained military commander under Abu Bakr (632–634) (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) and Umar (634–644) (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) as well and played a leading role in the Ridda battles against rebel tribes in 632–633. He participated in Muslim conquests of Sasanian Iraq in 633–634, Byzantine Syria in 634–638, and Northern Africa in 639–643.
