The book ‘Guide for the Cognizants’ (دليل العارفين) contains the utterances (ملفوظات) of Shaikh Khwaja Moinuddin Chishtee (رحمتہ اللہ علیہ) which were compiled in Persian language by Shaikh Qutubuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki (1173-1235 CE) (رحمتہ اللہ علیہ), the Khalifa and Successor of Shaikh Moinuddin Chishtee (رحمتہ اللہ علیہ). It contains truthful Sufi teachings about Allah, His Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), and the virtuous deeds and sayings of the people of truth (اهل الحق) which are extremely useful for the people who are the seekers of the path of truth. Shaikh Mir Asedullah Quadri has rendered this book into English.

Shaikh Moinuddin Chishti Gharib Nawaz (عنه تعالی هللا رضئ) was born in 530 AH (1136 AD) in Sanjar, part of Sistan (Sijistan) which was comprised of present day Eastern Iran, Baluchistan and Southern Afghanistan. He was direct descendant of Khalifat-e-Rasulullah, Amir-ul-Momineen, Hadhrat Ali Ibn Ali Talib (عنه تعالی ِهللا رضئ) from both mother's and father's side. Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (عنه تعالی هللا رضئ) is among Awliya-e-Kubaar. He taught people Islamic Tawheed, the tenets of Islam, love of Prophet Mohammad (وسلم آله ِو عليه هللا صلى),his Ahle Bait-e-At Haar, dignitaries of Islam and Awliya Allah. He followed Prophet Mohammad (وسلم آله و عليه هللا صلى) in every aspect of his life and was known to receive his instructions throughout his life in wakefulness and in dreams. His services in spreading Islam in Indian Subcontinent are unparalleled.
