Juz 19 -

The Criterion

Al-Furqaan | Sura # 25 | 77 verses | Makkan

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate and Most Merciful

25:21 Those who do not expect to meet Us,  say, 'Why have angels not been sent down to us?  Why do we not see our Lord?'  They have become arrogant about themselves and are excessively self conceited.

25:22 There will be no good news for the guilty on the Day they see the angels.  They will cry, 'Keep (them) away! Away (from us)!'

There are three occasions when the disbelievers could see the angels; (i) when Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) sends a massive collective punishment for them in this world, (ii) when they die and the angels take out their soul, and (iii) on the day of Resurrection when the angels will show them the Hell Fire from a short distance and they will be taken there to be thrown in Hell. All these occasions do not bring any good news for them.

25:23 Then We will turn to whatever (good) deeds they (disbelievers) did, reducing them (the deeds) to scattered dust.

The above verse clarifies that the good deeds of disbelievers is related to this world only. Their good deeds will be of no use in Hereafter.

Similarly, the good deeds of the followers of deviant sects, like Salah, Zakat will be of no use to them on the day of resurrection.

One who does not have correct knowledge, he neither has Islam nor Iman. When you have the right knowledge, you will act upon it and perform good deeds. The affects of your actions will reflect the soundness of your knowledge. What is illiteracy? It is a kind of darkness and obliteration.

The one who does not have correct knowledge (صحيح ايمان) here in this world, will not be relieved of eternal torment in Hereafter. If you do not have the light of knowledge today, tomorrow (after death), it will be the darkness of illiteracy which is permanent torment.

It is in Quran - وَمَن كَانَ فِى هَـٰذِهِۦۤ أَعۡمَىٰ فَهُوَ فِى ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ أَعۡمَىٰ [ The one who is blind (about Sahih Iman) in this world, will be blind in Hereafter] (Al-Isra - 72).

The success in the World of Resurrection and welfare in this world depends upon the rightful knowledge (correct Islamic faith) and divine gnosis’. If there is a defect in a person's faith (Sahih Iman), he has lost everything in this world as well as in Hereafter - خَسِرَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةَ [ He has lost (this) World and the Hereafter.] (Al-Hajj - 11)

25:24 The residents of Paradise on that Day will have the best abode and the finest place to rest.

25:25 That day, the sky and the clouds will split apart; and through it, angels shall descend in a continuous stream.

25:26 The Sovereignty on that day will be Truly for the Most Compassionate (Lord), and it will be a hard day for disbelievers.

25:27 On that Day the wrongdoer will bite his hands, saying (with regret) ‘If only I had followed the Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) on the straight path.'

25:28 Woe to me! I wish I had not taken such and such as my (close) friend!

25:29 'He did lead me astray from the Message (of Allah) after it had come to me! Surely, the Satan is a great betrayer of man!'

25:30 And the Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) will say : 'My Lord! Surely (the disbelievers among) my people have made this Quran something worthy of no attention.'

25:31 Similarly, We made enemies for every prophet from among the wicked, but sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper.

25:32 The disbelievers ask : 'Why is not the Quran revealed to him (the Prophet ﷺ) all in a single revelation?' (It was revealed in stages) because We may strengthen your heart.  And We revealed it in well-organized portions.

25:33 And no question do they bring to you but We reveal to you the truth and the best explanation (thereof).

25:34 Those who will be dragged into Hell on their faces will be in the worst place, and are (now) farthest from the (Right) Way.

25:35 We gave Musa (عليه السلام) the Book (Tauraat), and made his brother Haraoon (عليه السلام) his Minister (Helper),

25:36 and commanded them : 'Both of you go to the people who have denied Our Revelations.' But those people rejected Our Apostles.  As a result, We destroyed them completely.

25:37 And the people of Nooh (عليه السلام), when they rejected the Apostles, We drowned them, and We made them as a Sign for mankind; and We have prepared for (all) wrongdoers a grievous punishment.

25:38 As also 'Aad and Thamud, and the Companions of the ar-Rass, and many a generation between them.

Ar-Rass are reported to be the people who killed their Prophet by throwing him into or hanging him down in an old dry well.

25:39 We admonished each of them by citing examples of those who were destroyed before them, even then they rejected Our revelations, so We exterminated each one of them.

25:40 And the (disbelievers) must indeed have passed by the town on which was rained a shower of evil.  Did they not then see it (with their own eyes)? But they do not expect to be resurrected.

25:41 And whenever they see you (O' Prophet  ﷺ) they ridicule you, (saying), 'Is this the one Allah sent as an Apostle?

25:42 (They say) Had we not stood firm, he (the Prophet  ﷺ) would have turned us away from our gods.' Very soon, when they face the punishment, they will realize who actually is most astray from the Right path!

25:43 Have you seen the one who takes his own desire as god,  then would you be responsible for him?

25:44 Or do you think that most of them listen or try to understand? They are nothing but cattle.   Nay, they are even further off the track!

25:45 Have you not seen how your Lord extends the shade (during the day). He could have simply made it (remain) still if He so willed.  Then We make the sun its guide,

The sun has been made the guide of the shadow means, the lengthening of the shadow and its retreat depends on the rising, declining and setting of the sun.

25:46 (then We) cause the shadow to retreat gradually?

25:47 And it is He, Who has made the night a garment for you, and sleep a rest. And He has made the day a time of rising to life and going about (for daily livelihood).

25:48 And it is He, Who sends forth the winds as glad tidings (of rain) in advance of His mercy.   And We cause pure water to descend from the sky,

25:49 giving life to a lifeless land, and providing water for countless animals and humans of Our Own creation.

25:50 We distribute this water among them so that they may glorify Us, yet most people refuse to do anything except show ingratitude.

25:51 Had We willed, We could have easily sent a warner to every society.

25:52 So, do not yield to (the demands of) the unbelievers, and strive against them relentlessly for the sake of this great struggle.

25:53 And He is the One Who merges the two bodies of water,  one fresh and palatable and the other salty and bitter, placing between them a barrier they cannot cross.

25:54 It is He Who has created man from water,  then has He established relationships of lineage and marriage,  for your Lord has power (over all things).

Water is a phenomenon (appearance) of the attribute of 'Life' (تجلّئ حيات) of Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ). Our life dependents upon the Life of Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ). Our life is from His Life and our existence is from His existence (وجودِ الهي).

25:55 Yet do they worship, besides Allah, things that can neither profit them nor harm them. And the disbeliever always collaborates against their Lord.

25:56 We have not sent you (O' Prophet ﷺ) except as a bearer of glad tidings and as a warner.

25:57 Say (O' Prophet ﷺ) 'I ask of you no recompense for this work except that he who wants, may take the Right path to his Lord.'

25:58 Put your trust in the Ever Living (Allah) Who never dies.  Celebrate His praise, for He suffices as the Knower of the sins of His servants.

25:59 The One Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six days, and is firmly established on the Throne of authority; the Most Compassionate (Allah).  As to His Glory, ask the one who knows.

25:60 When it is said to them, 'Prostrate to the Most Compassionate,' they ask (in disgust), 'What is the Most Compassionate’? Will we prostrate to whatever you order us to?' And it only drives them farther away.

The above is the 'verse of Sajda' (آیت سجدہ). If someone is reading it alone, should do prostration (سجدة) alone. If it is read loudly in an audience, the reciter and all the listeners should do 'Prostration of Recitation' (Sajda-e-Tilaawah - سجدة التلاوة) individually.

The Prostration can be done in sitting or standing position. In the Hanafi school of thought, 'Prostration of Recitation' (Sajda-e-Tilaawah - سجدة التلاوة) is obligatory (Fardh). With Shafii and Maliki, it is Sunnah.

It is in Hadith - 'When you have recited a verse requiring Sajdah-e-Tilaawaah, you should go down for Sajdah with Allahu-Akbar and rise from Sajdah with Allahu-Akbar, which may be performed sitting, though it is preferable to prostrate oneself from the standing position. (Abu Dawood)

Have the intention to do Prostration of recitation (سجدة التلاوة). The place where you are reading/reciting Quran should be clean. Turn your face towards Qibla, say (quietly) Allahu Akbar, go into prostration once, recite the 'Tasbih of Sajdah' 'Subhana Rabbi al-A'alaa' (سبحان ربّي الاعلى ) at least 3 times and raise from the Sajda saying Allahu Akbar.

25:61 Blessed is the One Who has placed constellations in the sky and set a beacon (sun) in it, plus a shining moon.

25:62 He is the One Who has granted night and daytime in succession for anyone who wants to reflect (on it) or wants (to show) gratitude,

25:63 The (true) servants of the Most Compassionate are those who walk on the earth humbly, and when the foolish address them (improperly), they only respond with peace (and grace).

25:64 Who spend the night bowing down on their knees and standing before their Lord;

25:65 those who say, 'Our Lord! avert from us the torment of Hell, for its torment is indeed a grievous affliction.

25:66 'Evil indeed is it (Hell) as an abode, and as a place of stay.'

25:67 Those who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor niggardly, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes);

25:68 who do not invoke any god apart from Allah, who do not take a life which Allah has forbidden except for a cause that is just, and do not fornicate; and any one who does so, will be punished for the crime.

25:69 Torment will be doubled for him on Resurrection Day and he will remain disgraced forever in it.

25:70 As for those who repent, believe, and do good deeds, they are the ones whose evil deeds Allah will change into good deeds. For Allah is All Forgiving, Most Merciful.

25:71 And those who repent and do righteous deeds, then surely they repent to Allah (with true) repentance.

25:72 And those who don’t bear witness to falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity (without getting involved in it).

25:73 (They are) those who, when reminded of the revelation of their Lord, do not turn a blind eye or a deaf ear to it.

25:74 (They are) those who pray, 'Our Lord! Bless us with (pious) spouses and offspring who will be the joy of our hearts, and make us leading models of the righteous.'

25:75 It is they who will be rewarded with (elevated) mansions (in Paradise) for their perseverance, and will be received with salutations and (greetings of) peace.

25:76 They shall live forever in that excellent dwelling and excellent resting place!

25:77 Say (O Prophet  ﷺ) : 'My Lord does not care at all if you invoke Him or not. Now that you have rejected His revelations, soon you will face the inevitable punishment.'

The Poets

Ash-Shu'araa | Sura # 26 | 227 verses | Makkan

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate and Most Merciful

26:1 Ta-Seen-Meem

'Ta-Seen-Meem' is known as ‘Solemn Verse' (Ayat-e-Muqatta'at - آیتِ مقطعات).

Fourteen Arabic alphabets have been used, in varied combinations, in 14 ‘Solemn Verses' (Ayaat-e-Muqatta'at - آیاتِ مقطعات) in the form of initials of 29 Chapters (سورة) of holy Quran. Ta-Seen-Meem (طسم) is one of them.

Since Quran is 'Mubeen' (الْمُبِينِ); its description is clear and manifest. The meanings of all the verses of Quran, including 'Solemn Verses' (آیاتِ مقطعات) are surely known to its principle addressee, ie., Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم). It is also likely that Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) has informed the meanings of these Verses to some of his Sahabah and Awliya Allah.

We believe in whatever is meant by the 'Solemn Verses' (آیاتِ مقطعات) by Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) and His Apostle Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم).

Since we have been commanded to read the Quran carefully and try to understand the significance of every verse of the Quran, we do ponder over these verses. And when we think, by focusing our attention towards Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) and His Apostle Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) for guidance, it comes to our mind that the 'Solemn Verses' (آیاتِ مقطعات) are actually the 'Solemn Titles of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) given by Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) throughout the Quran. Our understanding is based on the fact that Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) has addressed Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) in the Quran by specific names, like Muzzammil (مزمل - O' beloved who covers self in a coverlet), Muddassir (مدثر - O' beloved, who covers self in a bed sheet). With this understanding, it is most likely that Prophet’s (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) other names / titles have been mentioned in Quran by denoting certain initials/alphabets.

26:2 These are the verses of the manifest Book (the Quran).

26:3 Perhaps you (O' Prophet  ﷺ) will grieve yourself to death over their (persistent) disbelief.

26:4 If We so wished, We might send a sign down to them from Heaven so they would bow their heads submissively before it.

Even though the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) wanted the disbelievers to realize the truth of the Cosmos and believe in Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) for their own sake, the above verse clearly explains that there is no compulsion in religion. People are free to choose the faith of their choice.

It is in Quran - لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ قَدْ تَبَيَّنَ الرُّشْدُ مِنَ الْغَيِّ فَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالطَّاغُوتِ وَيُؤْمِنْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَى لَا انْفِصَامَ لَهَا وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ [ There is no compulsion in religion; undoubtedly the right path has become distinct from the error; He who turns away from the forces of evil and believes in Allah has grasped a very firm handhold; it will never loosen; and Allah is All Hearing, All Knowing. ] ( Al-Baqara - 256)

Even though the entire administration of this Cosmos and of its creatures, individually and collectively, is run by Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ), the servants have been given liberty in the choice of their faith. Therefore, there is no compulsion in religion. The right path has been explained to the servants in a distinct way and they have also been shown how to differentiate between the right and wrong. Who turns away from the evil and believes in Allah, he has come under His protection.

In spite of such clear teachings of Islam explained in detail in Quran and Sunnah, some people claim that Islam was spread by force. This is their wrong understanding. It is important that people read the Quran to know facts. The entire Quran, sent down over a period of 23 years, is full of explaining the facts to the people about Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) and His Cosmos. The Suras revealed in Makka al-Mukarrama during 13 long years explained Idol worshiping Quraish to understand the signs of Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) in this Cosmos and in their day to day lives. Many a verses were revealed to explain them as to what had happened to the nations of the past prophets for their disbelieve in order to warn them about the consequences.

But Allah's (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) Mercy has no bounds. After 21 years of Makkan persistent disbelieve, when Makka fell in 8 AH, no one from the disbelievers of Makka was killed. No punishment was meted out to them. They were allowed to lead their usual lives without any fear. They were not forced to believe in Islam either. Looking at this massive amnesty and unprecedented Mercy of Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) and His Apostle Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), the Makkans realized the truth of Islam and the entire population became Muslim voluntarily. Thus it was displayed that Islam's mission is to win the hearts of the people rather than force them to do anything against their wishes. We do not find this kind of example in the history of mankind.

26:5 Whenever a new Revelation comes to them from the All Merciful (to warn and enlighten them), they turn away from it in aversion.

26:6 They have certainly denied (the truth), so they will soon face the consequences of their ridicule.

26:7 Don't they see the earth, and how many kinds of beneficial pairs of plants We have caused to grow in it?

26:8 Verily, in this is a Sign, but most of them do not believe.

26:9 And indeed, your Lord is He, who is  Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

26:10 (Remember) when your Lord called out to Musa (عليه السلام), 'Go to the wrongdoing people,

26:11 'the people of Pharaoh (and ask them), will they not fear Allah?'

26:12 Musa (عليه السلام) said : 'My Lord, I fear they will reject me,

26:13 My breast is constricted and my tongue is not fluent.  So send Haroon (عليه السلام) along (as an Apostle).

Haroon (عليه السلام) was the elder brother of Musa (عليه السلام). He was a fluent speaker. Musa (عليه السلام) had a high regard for his brother and knew that he will be very helpful to him in this endeavor.

26:14 'Also, they have a charge against me; and I fear they may kill me.'

26:15 Allah said, 'Certainly not! So go, both of you, with Our signs. We will be with you, listening (to your calls).

26:16 Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are Apostles from the Lord of the worlds,

26:17 'Let the Children of Israel go with us.'

26:18   (Pharaoh) said, 'Did we not raise you among us as a child, and did you not live among us for many years (of your life)?

26:19   '(Then) you committed that crime of yours, (indeed) you are one of the ungrateful ones.'

26:20 Musa (عليه السلام) said, (the thing you call a crime) was an unintended action committed at a time when I was unaware of the result (of my hit to that person).

26:21 'I therefore went away from (all of) you as I feared (I will be wrongly implicated into a murder which was unintended).  (Now) my Lord has commanded me and appointed me as one of the Noble Apostles (for the guidance of people).

26:22 'As for that favor you taunt me with, (is a ploy on your part. The fact is) you have enslaved the Children of Israel.

26:23 Pharaoh said, 'And what (do you mean by )  the Lord of the worlds?'

26:24 Musa (عليه السلام) replied : 'The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you really care to know.'

26:25 (Pharaoh) said to those around him, 'Do you hear (what he just said)?'

26:26 (Musa  عليه السلام ) said,  'Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers from the beginning!'

26:27 (Pharaoh) said (to his nobles jokingly), 'Your Apostle who has been sent to you, certainly (looks to be)  mad.'

26:28  (Musa  عليه السلام ) said, 'the Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense (to understand).

26:29 (Pharaoh) said, 'If you take a god other than me, I will surely imprison you.'

26:30 (Musa  عليه السلام ) said, 'Even if I showed you something manifest (and) convincing (sign)?'

26:31 Pharaoh said, Show it then, if you are telling the truth!

26:32 So (Musa  عليه السلام ) threw down his staff; and behold, it was an undeniable snake.

26:33 And he drew forth his (right) hand  (from the bosom through the opening of his collar) and it came out shining-white for the onlookers.

26:34 Pharaoh said to the chiefs around him, 'He is indeed a skilled magician',

26:35 'who wants to drive you out of your land with his magic, so what do you suggest?'

26:36 They said, 'Let him and his brother have some respite, and dispatch mobilizers to all cities,

26:37 to bring you every skilled magician.

26:38 So the magicians were brought together at the appointed time on a fixed day.

26:39 The people were encouraged through (public) announcements : 'Would you come to the gathering (and see the spectacle),

26:40 so that we may follow the magicians while they win (and feel happy for our triumph over  Musa -

26:41 When the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, 'Is there a reward for us if we win?'

26:42 Pharaoh replied, 'Yes of course! (In addition) you will even be made my courtiers.'

26:43 Musa (عليه السلام) said to them.  Cast what you want to cast.

26:44 So they threw their ropes and their staffs, and said, 'By the might of Pharaoh, We will surely win.'

26:45 Thereafter, Musa (عليه السلام) threw his staff, and behold, it swallowed all  their false devices.

26:46 (Looking at the miracle) the magicians fell down, prostrating,

26:47 saying, 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,'

26:48 'the Lord of Musa and Haroon (عليهم السلام)'.

26:49 Pharaoh shouted (at the magicians). 'How dare you believe in him before I give you permission? He must be your master who taught you the witchcraft. But soon you shall find out. I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides and crucify you all.'

26:50 They said, 'We do not mind as We will be returning to our Lord.'

26:51 'We hope that our Lord will forgive us for our sins, because we are the first believers.'

26:52 And We revealed to Musa (عليه السلام) saying, 'Depart by night with My servants (the children of Israel), surely, you will be pursued.'

26:53 Then Pharaoh sent his marshals to the cities (to mobilize people).

26:54 (Saying), the Children of Israel are a handful (as compared to our people),

26:55 who have really enraged us,

26:56 while we have a large army, well prepared.'

26:57 So We expelled them from (their) gardens and springs,

26:58 and from treasures and nice houses.

26:59 (This is how Pharaoh and his people were made to lose, while on the other hand) We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things.

26:60 So they (people of Pharaoh) pursued (the children of Israel) at sunrise.

26:61 And when the two sides sighted one another, Musa's (عليه السلام) companions' (were scared and) said, 'We will be overtaken (by Pharaoh's army)!'

26:62 Musa's (عليه السلام) assured them and said, 'Surely, My Lord is with me and He will guide Me.'

26:63 Then, We revealed to Musa's (عليه السلام) 'Strike the sea with your staff.' (And when he struck, ) it parted (the sea water), and each part looked like a mountain.

26:64 And We brought the pursuers right into it,

26:65 and saved Musa (عليه السلام) and all those who were with him.

26:66 and We drowned the others (Pharaoh and his people who followed them).

26:67 Surely in this is a sign. Yet most of them would not believe.

26:68 And indeed, your Lord is Mighty and Most Merciful.

26:69 And relate to them (O' Prophet  ﷺ) the story of Ibrahim (عليه السلام).

26:70 When he questioned (the brother of ) his father and his people, 'What is that you worship (besides Allah)?'

26:71 They replied, 'We worship idols, to which we are fully devoted.'

26:72 Ibrahim (عليه السلام) asked, can they hear when you call upon them?

26:73 Can they help you or harm you?

26:74 They replied, 'No! But we found our forefathers doing the same.'

26:75 Ibrahim (عليه السلام) said, 'Have you (ever) considered what you have been worshiping?

26:76 You and your forefathers.

26:77 (Then Ibrahim عليه السلام)  said, they (those who worship beside Allah) are enemies to me. (I worship none) except the Lord of the worlds,

26:78 who created me and guides me,

26:79 and Who feeds me and gives me drink,

26:80 and Who cures me when I am sick,

26:81 and Who will cause me to die and then bring me back to life,

26:82 'and Who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment.'

26:83 My Lord, bestow upon me wisdom; unite me with the righteous;

26:84 bless me with honorable mention among later generations,

26:85 and make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight,

26:86 and forgive (the brother of) my father, for he has been of those who have been misguided,

26:87 'And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (people) will be resurrected,

26:88 the Day when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit.

26:89 Only those who come before Allah with a pure heart  (will be saved).'

26:90 When Paradise shall be brought within the sight of the righteous;

26:91 and the Hellfire will be displayed to the deviant,

26:92 and they will be asked, Where are those whom you worshiped,

26:93 'besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?'

26:94 Then they will be hurled into the Flame headlong, one upon another; they (the idols), and the rebellious (who worshiped them),

26:95 together with the armies of Satan.

26:96 There the deviant will cry while disputing with their idols,

26:97 saying, 'by Allah, we were indeed in manifest error,

26:98 when we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.

26:99 No one misguided us except those who forced us to reject Allah's messages.

26:100 Now we have none to intercede for us,

26:101 nor a close friend (to help us),

26:102 'now if we only had a chance of return (to the world again) we shall truly be of those who believe!'

26:103 Surely! In this narration  is a sign, yet most of them do not believe.

26:104 Truly your Lord is the Almighty, Most Merciful.

26:105 The people of Nooh (عليه السلام) (also) rejected the Apostles.

26:106 Remember when their brother (one among them) Nooh (عليه السلام) asked them : 'Don't you have fear of Allah?

26:107 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy Apostle.

26:108 So fear Allah and obey me.

26:109 I do not seek any compensation from you. My reward exists only with the Lord of the worlds.

26:110 So fear Allah and obey me.

26:111 They replied : 'Should we believe in you, whereas your followers are but the lowest of the low (people among our community)?'

26:112 He said : 'It is not for me to know what they were doing.

26:113 Their account is the concern of my Lord, if you could use your common sense!

26:114 I am not going to expel the believers.

26:115 Indeed, I am sent with a clear warning.

26:116 They said, 'If you do not refrain, O' Nooh (عليه السلام), you will be stoned (to death).'

26:117 Noah prayed, 'My Lord! My people have truly rejected me.

26:118 So judge conclusively between me and them, and save me and the faithful who are with me.’

26:119 Thus We saved him, and those who were with him in the loaded ark.

26:120 Then We drowned the rest afterwards.

26:121 Truly in that is a sign, but most of them are not believers.

26:122 Truly your Lord is Almighty, Most Merciful.

26:123 The people of Aa'd (also) rejected the Apostles.

26:124 When their brother Hood (عليه السلام) said to them, 'Will you not fear (Allah)?

26:125 Indeed I am a trustworthy Apostle for you.

26:126 So fear Allah and obey me.

26:127 I do not seek any compensation from you. My reward exists only with the Lord of the worlds.

26:128 (Why) do you build a landmark on every high place in vanity,

26:129 Are you building strong fortresses as if you are going to live here forever?

26:130 And when you attack others, why do you attack like tyrants?

26:131 So fear Allah and obey me.

26:132 And Fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know.

26:133 He provided you with cattle and children.

26:134 And gardens and springs.

26:135 Surely, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible Day.'

26:136 They said : 'It´s all the same for us whether you warn (us) or not.

26:137 Truly, this is nothing but morals of the ancient ones.

26:138 We will never be punished.

26:139 So they denied him and, as a consequence, We destroyed them. Surely in that  there is a sign.  Yet most of them would not believe.

26:140 Truly your Lord is the Almighty, Most Merciful.

26:141 The  Thamud also rejected the Apostles.

26:142 Remember when their brother Saleh (عليه السلام) asked them : 'Don't you have fear of Allah?

26:143 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy Apostle.

26:144 So fear Allah and obey me.

26:145 I do not seek any compensation from you. My reward exists only with the Lord of the worlds.

26:146 Do you think that you will be left secured in what you have here,

26:147 In the gardens and springs (provided to you).

26:148 And (various) crops, and palm trees (loaded) with tender fruits.

26:149 And you skillfully hew dwellings in the mountains.

26:150 So fear Allah and obey me.

26:151 And do not follow the transgressors,

26:152 'Who cause corruption in the land and do not bring about reform.'

26:153 They said, ‘Indeed you are one of the bewitched.'

26:154 'You are only a human being like ourselves! Bring a sign if you are so truthful.'

26:155   Saleh (عليه السلام) replied, 'Here is a She-camel (Allah's sign).  She will have her turn to drink as you have yours, each on an appointed day.

26:156 And do not ever touch her with harm, or you will be overtaken by the torment of a terrible day.'

26:157  But they hamstrung her, then regretted;

26:158  So the punishment overtook them. Surely in this is a sign. Yet most of them would not believe.

26:159 Truly your Lord is the Almighty, Most Merciful.

26:160 The people of Loot (عليه السلام) also rejected the Apostles.

26:161 When their brother Loot (عليه السلام) said to them, 'Will you not fear (Allah)?

26:162 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy Apostle.

26:163 So fear Allah and obey me.

26:164 I do not seek any compensation from you. My reward exists only with the Lord of the worlds.

26:165 Why do you (men) lust after fellow men,

26:166 leaving the wives that your Lord has created for you?  In fact, you are a transgressing people.'

26:167 They said, If you do not desist, O' Loot (عليه السلام), you will surely be banished (from the land).

26:168 (Loot عليه السلام ) said : 'I am disgusted with your actions,'

26:169 (Then Loot عليه السلام supplicated)  My Lord! Save me and my family from (the consequences of) what they do.'

26:170 We saved him and all of his family,

26:171 except the old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind.

26:172 And then we destroyed the (the ones who remained behind).

26:173 And rained on them a shower (of Stones).  How terrible was the rain (that fell) on those who had been warned!

26:174 Surely in this there is a sign, but most of them would not believe.

26:175 Truly your Lord is the Almighty, Most Merciful.

26:176 The woods-dwellers (also) denied the Apostles.

26:177 When Shuaib (عليه السلام) told  them, will you not fear Allah?

26:178 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy Apostle.

26:179 So fear Allah and obey me.

26:180 I do not seek any compensation from you. My reward exists only with the Lord of the worlds.

26:181 'Give full measure (weigh correctly) and do not cause (buyers) any loss.

26:182 And Weigh with honest scales;

26:183 and do not mislead people into thinking that their goods are worth less than their real value,  and do not spread corruption on earth.

26:184 'And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)'

26:185 They said : 'You are someone who is bewitched'.

26:186 You are only a human being like ourselves, and we think you are a liar.

26:187 If you are truthful, then let the pieces of the sky  fall upon us.'

26:188 He said : My Lord knows best what you do.

26:189 But they denied him, so the punishment of the Day of shadow (cloud carrying Allah’s punishment) seized them,  indeed that was the punishment of a terrible Day.

It is reported that the people of Shuaib (عليه السلام) were exposed to unbearable hot scorching sun for over a weak. They tried to cool down by using water but it was of no avail. Then they tried to escape into a desert and found what they believed to be relief under a dark and gloomy cloud. But the cloud rained drops of fire and the earth quaked under their feet and they were annihilated.

26:190 Truly in that is a sign, but most of them are not believers.

26:191 Truly your Lord is the Almighty, Most Merciful.

26:192 This is certainly a revelation from the Lord of the worlds,

26:193   brought down by The Trustworthy (Angel) Jibreel (عليه السلام),

26:194 upon your heart (O' Apostle  ﷺ) that you may be of the warners,

26:195 in a clear Arabic language.

26:196 And it has indeed been (foretold) in the Scriptures of the past Apostles.

26:197 Was it not sufficient proof for the deniers that it has been recognized by the knowledgeable among the Children of Israel?

26:198 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) to any of the non-Arabs,

26:199 and he had recited it to them, they would still not believe in it.

26:200 We have caused it (disbelief) to enter in the hearts of the criminals.

26:201 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment.

26:202 It will come upon them suddenly while they least expect it.

26:203 Then they would say 'Can we be given (some) more time'

26:204 Do they wish to hasten on Our Punishment?

26:205 Just think! If We let them enjoy this life for many years,

26:206 then inflicted the punishment as promised,

26:207 would that enjoyment be of any benefit to them (at all)?

26:208 We have never destroyed a town without sending Apostles to warn,

26:209 by way of reminder (in advance), and We have never been unjust.

26:210 This Quran is not brought down by the Davils.

26:211 It is neither (permitted or proper) for them, nor is it within their purview (to do that).

26:212 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it.

26:213 So (O' People) do not invoke another (false) god beside Allah, or you will incur punishment.

26:214 And (O' Apostle  ﷺ) warn (everyone including) your nearest kinsfolk.

26:215 And be gracious to the believers who follow you.

26:216 But, if they disobey you, then say, 'I am not responsible for what you are doing.'

26:217 And I rely upon the Almighty, the Most Merciful.

26:218 Who sees you (O' Prophet  ﷺ) when you stand up (in the night in Salah).

26:219 And your turning over and over among those who prostrated themselves before Allah.

The above two verses (218-19) clarify that Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) sees the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) doing prostrations in the nights, and He had seen all his ancestors prostrating to Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) during their lifetimes.

Thus the Quran testifies that forefathers of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) were all Muslims.

Noor-e-Mohammadi (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) was transferred from Hadhrat Adam (عليه السلام) and Hawwa (عليها السلام) to all pious men and women till it illuminated in the person of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم).

(i) It is in Hadith - Imam Tirmidhi has recorded a Hadith which he classified as Hasan, as well as Imam Baihaqi from Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) that the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) said : 'When Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) created me, He made me from the best of creations. Then when He created the tribes, He made me from the best of tribes. And when He created persons He made me from the best of them. Then when He created households, He made me from the best of households. Thus I am the best in terms of household, and the best in terms of Nufoos.’ (Tirmidhi, Baihaqi and others)

(ii) It is in Hadith - The Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) said : 'Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) chose me among the distinguished people of Arabia. I descend from the best people." (Tabarani)

(iii) It is in Hadith Ibn Abbas (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) narrated : Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) was transferred from the generation of one prophet to the generation of another prophet. If a father had two sons, the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) descended from the one that had the Prophet-hood." (Mawahib al-Ladunniyyah by Qastallani)

(iv) It is in Hadith - The Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) said : "None of my grandparents committed fornication. I descend from the best fathers and clean mothers. If one of my grandfathers had two sons, I descended from the better one." (Mawahib al-Ladunniyyah by Qastallani )

(v) It is in Hadith - The Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) said : 'All of my ancestors beginning from Adam (علیھ السلا م) were married couples. I am the best of you in terms of ancestors.' (Daylami)

(vi) It is in Hadith - The Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) said : 'I am the most honorable person among people. I am not saying it in order to boast.' (Daylami)

(vii) It is in Hadith 'Prophet Mohammad - صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) descended from the best men of each century.' (Bukhari)

(viii) It is in Hadith The Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) said : Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) chose Kinanah among the sons of Ismail (عليه السلام), the Quraish among the sons of Kinana and sons of Hashim among the Quraish. And He chose me among them.' (Muslim)

(ix) It is in Hadith - Suyuti reported in 'Al-Jami‘ Al-Saghir' on the authority of 'Ali, (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) that the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) said : 'I was born of the best and noblest lineage after lineage, and nothing of the fornication of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic time of ignorance) touched my birth.' Tabarani in “Al-Awsat”. Haythami said The chain of Narrators of this Hadith have been authenticated by Hakim.

(x) It is in Hadith - Abu Nua’im writes in Dala’il al-Nabuwwa, with the chain of Ibn Abbas (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) that the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) said, ‘Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) continued to transfer me from the loins of the pure to the wombs of the pure, clean and mannered. No two groups have appeared except I was the best of the two.’

(xi) It is in Hadith - Imam Tabrani writes in Awsat and Imam Baihaqi in Dala’il, from Ummul Momineen Aisha (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہا) that the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) said : 'Jibreel (عليه السلام) said to me, I have searched the Earth, the Easts and the Wests, and I did not find a man better than Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ), and I did not find a clan better than the clan of Bani Hashim.'

(xii) It is in Quran - يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّمَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ نَجَسٌ [ O' you who believe! the idolaters are nothing but unclean.] (At-Tauba - 28)

(xiii) It is reported that before the fall of Makkah, Abu Sufyan (who had not accepted Islam then) went to visit Ummul Momineen, Umm-e-Habibah (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہا) who was his daughter. He wanted to sit down on the bedding of the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), but Umm-e-Habibah (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہا) did not allow her father to sit on it as he was an unbeliever (then). She said, 'You are a polytheist and hence unclean and this is a pure, clean bedding of the Prophet

(ix) It is in Hadith The Prophet ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) said : "I descend from the best people. My ancestors are the best people." (Tirmidhi)

(x) It is in Hadith Anas Ibn Malik (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) narrates that one day Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) stood on the pulpit and informed (Sahabah) the names of his ancestors:

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) said : Ana, Mohammad Ibn Abdullah, bin Abdul Muttalib, bin Hashim, bin Abd Manaf, bin Qusa'i, bin Kilab, bin Murra, bin Ka'b, bin Lu'ayy, bin Ghalib, bin Fihr, bin Malik, bin an-Nadr, bin Kinanah, bin Khuzaimah, bin Mudrikah, bin Elias, bin Mudar, bin Nizar, bin Ma'ad, bin Adnan, bin Udad, bin Asha'b, bin Saleh, bin Salooq, bin Hameesa, bin Nabad, bin Khizaar, bin Ismail (عليه السلام), bin Ibrahim (عليه السلام), bin Tariq.

It is clear from the above Hadith that the father of Ibrahim (عليه السلام) was Tariq, a Momin; while his uncle Azar was an Idol worshiper.

26:220 Indeed, He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing.

26:221 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?

26:222 They descend on every lying, wicked person,

26:223 who gives an (attentive) ear (to half-truths of the devils), mostly passing on sheer lies.

26:224 As for (evil) poets (who lead people to imaginary fantasy away from the truth),  they are followed  by deviants.

26:225 Do you not see that they (the evil poets) roam about in all the (imaginary fantasy) valleys (of thought) ?

26:226 And they do not practice what they say.

26:227 But except those (poets) who believe, do righteous deeds, remember Allah and (poetically) avenge (the believers) after being wrongfully slandered.  Very soon the oppressors will come to know the means and manners by which they will be toppled.

The Ant

An-Naml | Sura # 27 | 93 verses | Makkan

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate and Most Merciful

27:1 Ta-Seen. These are the Revelations of the Quran (which is) a manifest Book.

'Ta-Seen' is known as ‘Solemn Verse' (Ayat-e-Muqatta'at - آیتِ مقطعات).

Fourteen Arabic alphabets have been used, in varied combinations, in 14 ‘Solemn Verses' (Ayaat-e-Muqatta'at - آیاتِ مقطعات) in the form of initials of 29 Chapters (سورة) of holy Quran. Ta-Seen ( طس ) is one of them.

We believe in whatever is meant by the 'Solemn Verses' (آیاتِ مقطعات) by Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) and His Apostle Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم)

27:2 It is a guidance and glad tidings for the believers,

27:3 those who establish Salah, pay Zakat  and are believe in the Hereafter.

27:4 As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have certainly made their (evil) deeds appealing to them, so they wander (in their lives) blindly.

27:5 It is they who will suffer a dreadful torment, and in the Hereafter, they will be the greatest losers.

27:6 Indeed you (O' Prophet ﷺ) receive the Quran from (your Lord) who is All Wise, All Knowing.

27:7 (Remember) when Musa (عليه السلام) told his family, 'I have spotted a fire. I will either bring you some directions from there, or a burning torch so you may warm yourselves.'

27:8 When he came to it, he was called,  "Blessed is He whose (Tajalli) is in the fire and whoever are around it; and All Glorified is Allah (above any resemblance with the created), the Lord of the worlds.

27:9 O' Musa (عليه السلام),  verily, I am Allah, the Exalted in Might, All Wise,

27:10 'throw down your staff.'  But when he saw it moving as if it were a snake, he ran away and did not turn. (Allah said), O' Musa (عليه السلام), do not be afraid. In My presence the Apostles do not have anything to fear.

27:11 (Fear is) only for those who do wrong.  But if they later mend (their) evil (ways) with good, then I am certainly All Forgiving, Most Merciful.

27:12 Now put your hand at your bosom (through the opening)  of your collar, it will come out (shining) white, unblemished. These are (two of) nine signs for Pharaoh and his people. They have truly been a rebellious people.'

27:13 But when Our enlightening signs came to them, they said, 'This is clearly magic.'

27:14 They were convinced in their hearts about the truth of those miracles, yet they denied those signs in their wickedness and pride.  So you see, what was the end of those transgressors.

27:15 Indeed, We granted knowledge to Dawood and Sulaiman (عليهم السلام). And they said (in acknowledgment), 'All praise is for Allah Who has privileged us over many of His faithful servants.'

27:16 And Dawood (عليه السلام) was succeeded by Sulaiman (عليه السلام), who said, 'O people! We have been taught the language of birds, and been given everything (we need). This is indeed a great privilege.'

27:17  Sulaiman (عليه السلام) gathered an army comprised of Jinns, men and birds; they all were kept under strict discipline.

27:18  When they came upon the valley of the ants, one of the ants said, 'Ants enter your dwellings so that you will not be crushed by Sulaiman (عليه السلام) and his soldiers without their knowing it.'

27:19  Sulaiman (عليه السلام) smiled, amused at what she (the ant) said, and prayed, 'My Lord, enable me to be grateful for the blessings You have given me and my parents, and that I may do righteous deeds (that are) accepted by You. And admit me by Your mercy into  Your righteous worshipers.'

27:20  (Once) Sulaiman (عليه السلام) inspected the birds and said, 'How is it that I cannot see the hoopoe (bird)?  Or is he among the absentees (today)?

27:21 'I will certainly give a severe punishment to him or maybe even kill him unless he comes to me with a convincing reason (for his absence).'

27:22 'So Hoopoe (الْهُدْهُدَ) did not stay absent for long, and presenting himself, submitted, 'I have witnessed a matter that your majesty has not seen, and I have brought definite information to you from the city of Sheba (سبا).'

27:23 I found a woman ruling over them who has been given everything. She possesses a mighty throne.

27:24 I found that she and her people worship the sun in place of Allah, for Satan has made their deeds look attractive to them and has turned them away from the (right) Path, so they do not find the way.

27:25 They do not prostrate themselves to Allah, who brings out the hidden in the heavens and the earth, and He knows whatever you hide and whatever you disclose.

27:26 Allah, there is no god but He, the Lord of the Mighty Throne.'

27:27  Sulaiman (عليه السلام) said, 'We will see whether you are telling the truth or lying.

27:28  'Go with this letter of mine and deliver it to them, then stand aside and see how they will respond.'

27:29  She (the queen) said : 'O chiefs! Surely! A noble letter has been delivered to me.

27:30 It is from Sulaiman (عليه السلام), and it reads : In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

27:31 It reads : Do not be arrogant against me and come to me as a Muslim (in complete submission to the Lord of the worlds).'

27:32 She said, 'advise me, O' nobles in this matter. I do not decide anything until you concur.'

27:33 They responded, 'We are a people of strength and great (military) might, but the decision is yours, so decide what you will command (to us).'

27:34 She said, ‘Whenever kings invade a land, they ruin it and humiliate its leaders, that is what they do.

27:35 'I will send them a gift, and I shall see what the envoys bring back.'

27:36 So when her messengers gained an audience with Sulaiman (عليه السلام) (and presented the gift), Solomon said, 'Do you bring me wealth, when what Allah has given me is better than what He has given you?  It is people like you who will rejoice in a gift like this.

27:37 (Sulaiman - عليه السلام) said to the Head of her visiting team who had brought the present) : Go back to them (your people). (If your people don’t submit) surely we shall come to them with army which they will never be able to resist, we shall drive them out from there (land) in disgrace, and they will be humiliated.'

27:38 (The Queen, having received his message, decided to visit Sulaiman (عليه السلام) in Jerusalem. Knowing of her journey, Sulaiman (عليه السلام) said (to his Nobles) : 'O you nobles! Who among you can bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?'

27:39 A strong one from the jinns (عِفْريتٌ) said : 'I will bring it to you before you rise from your place (council). Surely, I am strong and trustworthy for such task.'

27:40 But the one who had knowledge of the book said, 'I can bring it to you in the blink of an eye.' So when Sulaiman (عليه السلام) saw it placed before him, he exclaimed, 'This is by the grace of my Lord to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful, it is only for their own good. But whoever is ungrateful, surely my Lord is Self-Sufficient, Most Generous.'

In the above verse, there is a mention of a Marvel (كرامت) by a Wali Allah. It is reported on the authority of Ibn Abbas (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ), and Mohammad Ibn Ishaq from Yazid bin Ruman that the name of that person (Wali Allah) who brought the throne of Queen Bilqis (عليها السلام) in a blinking of an eye was Asif bin Barkhiya (عليه السلام). Quran testifies that he had the knowledge of the book (Zaboor).

What is the meaning of the knowledge of the book?

It means that he was a learned Wali Allah during the reign of Sulaiman (عليه السلام).

The unusual happenings related to Awliya Allah are known as Marvels (Karamaat - كرامات). The unusual thappenings related to the Prophets are known as Miracles (Mo'jezaat - معجزات).

Quran testifies to the marvels (كرامات) related to Awliya Allah. Like Maryam (عليها السلام) used to get food and fresh fruits when she was in seclusion. Like Asif bin Barqiya brought the throne of Queen Bilqis (عليها السلام) from Yemen to Jerusalem in a blinking of an eye.

Similarly, Khizr (عليه السلام), who was the follower of the Sharia of Musa (عليه السلام) was awarded with special knowledge. There are differences of opinions among scholars about Khizr (عليه السلام). Some people consider him to be a Prophet and others consider him to be a Wali Allah. Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) and His Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) know best. Whatever may be the case, he was a chosen Servant of Allah, on whom Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) had bestowed special knowledge.

Quran also mentions Luqman (عليه السلام) who was provided with wisdom. Similarly, Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) has informed us about As-habe-Kahf (عليهم السلام).

It is in Hadith - It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ), who said : 'I have memorized two kinds of knowledge from Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم). I have propagated one of them to you and if I propagated the second, then my throat would be cut (by the people). (Bukhari, Book 1).

Awliya Allah are chosen people. They inherit their knowledge, stations, and states from Prophets.

On them shall come no fear, nor shall they grieve. These are they, who have believed in Allah - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ and are mindful of (close to) Him and (have consequently abstained from everything evil). To them tidings come ( from Allah - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ) of a happy life both in this world and in Hereafter. The word of Allah - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ is never revoked. This in itself is a great felicity" (Yunus - 62-64).

Deviant sects like Kharijis/Salafis/Wahhabis/Deobandis and their like minded groups do not believe in the Marvels (كرامات) of Awliya Allah. They consider the pious graves of Awliya Allah as places of polytheism. They treat them as idols. The Muslims who visit their graves for barakah are called by these sects as ‘Grave worshipers’ They do not realize that it is the practice of Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and Sahabah who used to visit the graves of Muslims frequently, on regular intervals. There are many Ahadith in this context in almost all authentic Ahadith books. By doing blasphemy of Awliya Allah, followers of these sects surely invite the wrath of Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ).

It is in Hadith - “Whoever takes a Wali of Mine an enemy, I will wage war on him; and My slave will not perform any act with which he draws closer to Me, more beloved to Me then when he fulfills what I have ordained on him; and My salve will keep drawing closer to Me by performing the Nawafil (voluntary acts of worship) until I love him, and when I love him, I will be his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hands with which he strikes, and his legs with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him; and if he seeks refuge with Me, I will grant him refuge” (Bukhari).

The emphasis on "Wali of mine" in the above Hadith shows that this human being is the chosen one.

27:41 Then Sulaiman (عليه السلام) said : 'Transform her throne out of all recognition by her : let us see whether she is guided (to the truth and recognizes her throne) or is one of those who receive no guidance.'

27:42 So when the queen arrived, she was asked : 'Is your throne like this?' She replied : 'It looks as if it is the same; we have come to know (that Sulaiman (عليه السلام) is not only a king but also a Prophet), therefore we have already become Muslims.'

27:43 Other deities which she used to worship besides Allah had prevented her (from Islam), indeed (earlier) she was of a disbelieving people.

27:44 Then she was told, 'Enter the palace.' But when she saw the hall, she thought it was a body of water, so she bared her legs. Solomon said. 'It is just a palace paved with crystal.' (At last) she declared, 'My Lord! I have certainly wronged myself (earlier). Now I (fully) submit, along with Sulaiman (عليه السلام), to Allah, the Lord of all worlds.'

27:45 And We certainly sent to the people of Thamud their brother Ṣaleḥ (عليه السلام), proclaiming, 'Worship Allah,' but they got split into two opposing groups.

27:46 Saleh (عليه السلام) said : 'O my people! Why do you wish to hasten towards evil rather than good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah so that you may be shown mercy?'

27:47 They said : 'We consider you and your companions a sign of bad omen.' He said : 'Your omen is with Allah; in fact, you are the people under trial.'

27:48 And in the town there were heads of nine clans who spread mischief in the land and did no good.

27:49 They said to each other, 'Let's take an oath by Allah that we will kill him and his family tonight. Then we will say to his near relatives, 'we did not witness the destruction of his family, and we are truthful.'

27:50 And so they devised a plot, and indeed We put Our 'will' in force (to punish them for their deeds), while they were not aware.

27:51 See then what the consequences of their plan were : We (utterly) destroyed them and their people all together.

27:52 So their homes are there, (for people to see, in complete) ruin because of their wrongdoing. Surely in this is a lesson for people of knowledge.

27:53 And We saved those who believed and were righteous.

27:54 And (remember) Loot (عليه السلام), when he rebuked (the men among) his people, 'Do you commit that shameful deed while you meet (one another)?

27:55 'Will you go with lust to men in place of women? You are indeed an ignorant people with no sense (of decency).

27:56 But his people gave no answer except that they said (to their people) : 'Drive out the family of Loot (عليه السلام) from your city. They pose to be very pure.'

27:57 So We saved him and his family, except for his wife, for We found her to be of those who will remain.

27:58 And We rained down on them the rain (of stones). How ruinous was the rain that fell on those who had been warned!

27:59 Say : 'Praise be to Allah and peace be on His servants whom He has chosen to deliver His message. Ask them : 'Who is better? Allah or the Idols they associate with Him?'
